Mountain Fuji

Mount Fuji, an active stratovolcano straddling Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefectures, is Japan's highest peak at 3,776.12 meters. Known globally as a symbol of Japan, its elegant shape has inspired art and holds cultural and geological significance. Revered as a sacred mountain, it houses the Sengen Shrine and has been central to the Sengen faith and Shugendo practices. Today, Mount Fuji is a major tourist destination with popular climbing activities during the summer.
